Manage AutoSSL is one of the latest features introduced in cPanel. It also allows users to manage their AutoSSL feature, which automatically installs domain-validated SSL certificates on the user’s domain, specifically for Apache and Dovecot services. In this guide, we will cover the steps required to enable AutoSSL management on your cPanel server.
Add a Certificate using AutoSSL
- Log into cPanel.
- Scroll down until you find the SSL/TLS icon.
- Click the link under Certificates (CRT).
- Scroll down the list until you find the domain that needs to have the certificate installed. Click on the Install link to make sure that the certificate is installed.
- Once the installation is complete, scroll down until you see the link to return to SSL Manager. Click the link.
- To see if the certificate is applied, you can click on Manage SSL sites. Scroll down and you’ll see a green lock applied to the URL where you installed the certificate.
Run AutoSSL in SSL/TLS Section
- Log into cPanel.
- If AutoSSL does not install on a specified domain, you can force installation in the SSL/TLS status section.
- Select ‘Run AutoSSL’ or specify the domain(s) beforehand.
How to Delete an AutoSSL certificate
- Log into cPanel.
- Scroll down until you find the SSL/TLS icon.
- Click the link under Certificates(CRT).
- Scroll down until you find the domain name with the certificate you wish to delete. To the right, you’ll see a link labeled Delete. Click this link to complete the deletion.
- Click on ‘Return to the SSL Manager‘ at the bottom of the page to remove the certificate completely. Then click on Manage SSL Sites.
- Next, you need to find the URL where you are trying to remove the SSL certificate. To the right, you will see the uninstall option. Click Uninstall and you will get a warning saying this is a permanent change. Confirm it and the certificate will be removed from the domain. You can then verify by checking the URL in a browser.
